Abstract

The increase in the population of the city of Batusangkar has resulted in the need for clean water increasing from year to year. Realizing that clean water is an absolute necessity, the community should have the right to get clean water services that meet health standards. Where the supply of drinking water to ensure the availability of sufficient clean water for the people of Batusangkar is provided by a government company, namely the Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) of Batusangkar City. Some of the things that affect pump performance in PDAM Batusangkar Tirta Alami include pump head and pump power. The current problem at the Batusangkar Water Treatment Plant (IPA) is that the existing distribution pumps are old.So this research was conducted to determine the performance produced by PDAM Batusangkar. The method used in this research is the research method where the data used is secondary data obtained from the company and will be calculated using the concurrent method. From the results of this study, the flow velocity in the suction pipe was 1.59 m/s2, the velocity in the discharge pipe was 2.775 m/s2, the effective head value was 94.62 m, the Pump Specific Speed was 54.943 RPM, the fluid power was 92 .44 kw and the efficiency value of the pump is 53%. From the performance results obtained on centrifugal pumps in PDAM, the pumps are still suitable for use because the average decrease is only around 0.4% to 0.7% per month.
