Abstract

Thesis. Postcolonialism in Tear Mata Api Novel P.A.Redjalam. This research is motivated by the life in the novel which tells about the real life of marginalized communities who are saddened by the disappointment of oppression and injustice. The formulation of the research problem is how to mimicry in the novel Air Mata Api by P.A. Redjalam? How is the subaltren in the novel Air Mata Api by P.A. Redjalam? The purpose of this study is to analyze, interpret, describe and conclude Postcolonialism in the form of mimicry and sub-altrends. The theory that is used as the basis is the theory of Homi K.Bhabha and Gayatri Spivak in (Ratna, 2010). The method used is content analysis method. The approach used is a qualitative approach. The data collection technique used was the hermeneutic technique. Hermeneutics is a technique of reading, noting, and concluding. The data analysis technique proposed by Sugiyono. The technique of checking the validity of the data uses the credibility test technique by using triangulation. the results of the postcolonialism research analysis according to Gayatri Spivak and Homi K.Bahbha which the writer did, the writer got all 34 data. 25 data are mimicry data, and 9 are subaltrends data. Out of 25 mimicry data, 6 are thought mimicry data, 11 are behavioral mimicry data, and 8 are attitude mimicry data. From 9 subaltrends data, 6 are physical violence data and 3 are psychic violence subaltrends. Sourced from the phenomenon of postcolonialism data in the novel Air Mata Api by P.A. Redjalam is most commonly found in the aspect of behavioral mimicry and the least is found in the aspect of the psychic subaltrance. This happened because this novel discusses the 1980s when many political parties emerged who wanted to appear superior, and justified various ways to be able to occupy the seat of power.
