Abstract
In the development of the industrial world, construction and technology that is very large to date cannot be separated from the use of metal materials. ASTM A36 steel is a common type of material used in general structures or constructions. As in the construction of bridges, oil tanks, pipes, hull plates and others. It is known that pine resin has potential as a natural inhibitor. Pine sap can be used as an organic inhibitor to reduce the corrosion rate because it contains nitrogen compounds. The aims of this study were to obtain the efficiency of pine resin in reducing the corrosion rate in acidic media and to obtain the effect of pine resin concentration on the corrosion rate in acidic media. The corrosion test method used is the weight loss method. The concentration of pine resin extract inhibitor was 0 ppm, 800 ppm, 1000 ppm, 1200 ppm, 1400 ppm. The soaking time is 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 days. The lowest corrosion rate was found at concentrations of 1200 ppm with a value of 0,242 mm/y. The type of corrosion that gets the most is uniform corrosion.
