Abstract
On Shopee, an increasingly popular online trading platform, the buying and selling experience provides convenience but also poses threats related to product discrepancies. Despite Shopee having consumer protection policies, situations may still arise where received items do not match the ordered ones. One example occurred in Pekanbaru, where a purchased spare part did not align with the product's image or description. Therefore, this has become a research question regarding how consumer protection works for the purchase of spare parts that do not match orders through the Shopee platform in Pekanbaru. The research's objective is to understand the forms of protection provided to consumers in such transactions and identify challenges faced by consumers in obtaining protection. The research method used is an empirical research method, involving an analysis of legal regulations related to consumer protection, particularly in the context of online buying and selling. This study refers to Indonesian laws regarding consumer rights and obligations, procedures for returning goods, and the responsibilities of e-commerce service providers. The research findings indicate that there is consumer protection in the purchase of air conditioner filter spare parts for Calya cars that do not match the order through Shopee in Pekanbaru. First, there are protection mechanisms provided by Shopee, such as the process of returning goods and compensation. However, consumer protection in buying and selling spare parts through Shopee in Pekanbaru still faces challenges, particularly related to information limitations and the complexity of return procedures. It was also found that law enforcement in cases of non-compliance of goods with orders still needs strengthening. Therefore, efforts are needed to enhance consumer understanding of their rights and easily accessible dispute resolution procedures.
