Abstract

Used clothes purchased by consumers on Shopee e-commerce not only cause consumers to experience losses in terms of material, but also in terms of immaterial. Immaterial losses are losses that endanger consumer health, where consumers experience skin diseases in the form of boils, scabies and ringworm due to various kinds of bacteria and fungi contained in imported used clothes even though the used clothes have been cleaned repeatedly. This clearly violates the rules contained in Article 8 paragraph (2) of Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection where “business actors are prohibited from trading used and contaminated goods without providing correct and complete information on the goods in question”. The thesis entitled "Legal Protection for Consumers Against the Fulfillment of Consumer Rights in the Sale and Purchase Agreement for Used Import Clothes (thrift shop) through the Shopee e-commerce application in Pekanbaru City" discusses the following problems: How is the Legal Protection for Consumers Against the Fulfillment of Consumer Rights in the Sale and Purchase Agreement for Used Imported Clothes (thrift shop) through the Shopee e-commerce application in Pekanbaru City and What are the obstacles in the Fulfillment of Consumer Rights In the Sale and Purchase Agreement for Used Import Clothes (thrift shop) through the Shopee e-commerce application in Pekanbaru City. The method used to answer the above objectives is to use the empirical legal research method, which is a data collection technique, where the researcher makes direct observations of the research object to take a close look at the activities carried out. Methods Data collection was done by interview, questionnaire and observation. The results of the study showed that Legal Protection for Consumers Against the Fulfillment of Consumer Rights in the Sale and Purchase Agreement for Used Imported Clothes (thrift shop) through the Shopee e-commerce application in Pekanbaru City was not implemented properly. Thus, in this study, consumer rights are not fulfilled, so consumers do not get legal protection in any form. There are various factors that cause these obstacles to arise, both factors from business actors themselves, consumers and even from the Shopee ecommerce application. Obstacles in obtaining legal protection for consumers, causing legal protection for consumers not to be implemented or in fact the legal rules regarding consumer protection cannot protect consumers because of these obstacles.
