Abstract

The Impact of the Mathemagic Game Method on Interest in Learning Mathematics Students in Class 7 at UPT SMPN 4 Siak Hulu Fretty Dian Yustika NPM: 196410614 Thesis Program on mathematic Education of Islamic University of Riau Instructor: Dr. Hj. Sri Rezeki, S.Pd., M.Si Abstract In a mathematics lesson, educators require tools such as instructional media and teaching aids to enable learners to better understand the teacher's explanations. With the presence of teaching aids and instructional media, it is hoped that students can gain a better understanding of mathematical concepts. If during a lesson, a teacher only explains and subsequently assigns tasks, students will quickly become bored with the lesson, and the teaching process will appear monotonous. As a result, students are more likely to become disengaged and view mathematics as a tedious subject. To address this, an enjoyable learning process that actively involves students is necessary. Consequently, students will be more motivated to participate in the learning process, thus increasing their interest in studying mathematics at school. One innovative teaching method that teachers can utilize is the mathemagic game method. This research is motivated by students who lack enthusiasm in participating in mathematics lessons. The research methodology used in this study is quantitative, employing an experimental approach. The type of research used in this quantitative study is experimental research. The aim is to determine whether the mathemagics teaching method influences students' interest in learning mathematics by comparing the results of an experimental group that receives treatment with a control group that does not receive any treatment. Therefore, to test the questionnaire on learning interest, validity and reliability tests were conducted. The data analysis technique employed by the researcher utilizes Microsoft Excel. Based on the analysis results, there is an impact of the mathemagics game method on students' interest in learning mathematics, where students' interest in learning mathematics is better when the mathemagics game method is used compared to the conventional teaching model.
