Abstract
The purpose of this research is to determine the implementation of Riau Malay woven cloth motifs in mathematics learning and explore mathematical concepts contained in Riau Malay woven cloth in terms of mathematical activities and motifs on Riau Malay woven cloth. This research type is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Research data was collected using interview techniques, observation, documentation and literature study. The data analysis technique used is the Miles and Huberman model data analysis (data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/verification). From the results of this research, it was found that Riau Malay woven cloth motifs can be implemented in mathematics learning to design and compile learning tools as well as as a learning medium for geometry and trigonometry materials. From the motifs of Riau Malay woven cloth, mathematical concepts are also obtained, namely (1) in the activities of Riau Malay woven cloth craftsmen there are mathematical concepts such as lines, rectangles, comparisons, value comparisons, inverse value comparisons and social arithmetic, (2) in the Riau Malay woven cloth motifs themselves there are mathematical concepts which include points, lines, angles, equilateral triangles, isosceles triangles, right triangles, squares, rectangles, parallelograms, rhombuses, geometric transformations (translation, dilation, reflection, rotation), similarity and congruence.
