Abstract
Education is a specific interaction between teachers and students to achieve educational goals. There is a process of teaching and learning activities to achieve educational goals, which are curriculum, teaching method, assessment method, school and home environment. This research aims to investigate the students’ perception of English teaching and learning process at Mts Hasanah Pekanbaru. The descriptive qualitative method used by research. The sample of this research was 51 students of nineth-grade students. The data collection procedures used were questionnaires and interviews. The results of this research were processed by using likert scale to analyze questionnaire and making conclusion to analyze interview. The result shows that majority of students agree on problems that occur in learning process. The students’ perception was high in all indicator of research. The percentage of each indicator which the curriculum was 64.63% (agree), the teaching methods was 61.37%(agree). The assessment methods was 60.58% (agree), and the school and home environment was 64.99% (agree). The researcher conclude that it is important to be aware on the teaching and learnig process to teach the students.
