Abstract

Communication is an activity or activity that is classified as very important for human life, directly or indirectly. Posters are one of the most effective and visible communication tools used in the industrial world, especially the film industry. Film posters are visual media that must convey information to the audience about film reviews. A true film poster must have a message as a promotional tool, usually the message conveyed is in the form of verbal or nonverbal, namely symbols that can be represented in the form of various signs. This study aims to find out the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myth in the film poster of Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap which are analyzed using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. This research uses descriptive qualitative research with data analysis techniques in the form of observation and documentation. The results of the study show that the Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap film poster uses bright colors such as red, yellow, green, blue to attract potential moviegoers. The colors on the poster for the Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap film are also somewhat quirky because they have deep denotative and connotative meanings. This film provides information about the dynamics of the Batak family that often occur in everyday life so it is not good to be imitated by other migrants.
