Abstract

This study aims to identify, describe, analyze, and interpret the functions of assertive speech acts in the film Cinta Subuh directed by Indra Gunawan. In this research, the writer uses content analysis method and qualitative approach. The film Cinta Subuh is used as a source of research data, as well as research data from the dialogues of the characters in the film Cinta Dawn. In this study, the authors used observing techniques and note-taking techniques to collect data. The data analysis technique used to analyze the data is content analysis technique. The study found five functions of assertive speech acts used in the film Cinta Subuh, including: stating, informing, suggesting, complaining, and reporting. The results showed that there were 42 data for the notifying function, 8 data for the stating function, 5 data for the suggesting function, 5 data for the complaining function, and 3 data for the reporting function. Assertive speech act function of telling which is most often used in the film Cinta Subuh directed by Indra Gunawan.
