Abstract

Financial distress is a signal of the possibility of bankruptcy of a company which can be seen from the inability to pay all obligations, the absence of adequate operating cash flow, and the inadequacy of income to finance its operating activities. This study was conducted to provide empirical evidence of the effect of managerial ownership, cash flow, and company size on financial distress in property and real estate sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2020-2022 period. By using a quantitative approach, the type of research used is causal associative research. The population of this study amounted to 84 property and real estate sector companies listed on the IDX in 2020-2022. The study sample was selected using purposive sampling method. The number of samples used in this study was 65 samples. The data used in this study is secondary data, with documentation techniques by reviewing the company's financial statements sourced from www.idx.co.id site. The data analysis method used is multiple linear regression analysis with SPSS application tools. The results showed that managerial ownership, cash flow, and company size simultaneously affect financial distress. Partially, cash flow and company size have a negative and significant effect on financial distress, while managerial ownership does not have a negative and significant effect on financial distress.
