Abstract
Basically, consumer protection provides protection for consumer rights and obligations, based on Articles 4 to 7 of Law No. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection which explains that the law contains regulations in the form of obligations and rights as business actors and consumers. In this law there is a discussion about providing compensation and anti-loss for goods that are not suitable and damaged, and at the Suzuya Pekanbaru squatting market there is a lack of clear information provided by business actors there regarding the goods they are buying and selling. The formulation of the problem in this thesis research is: first, what is the responsibility of business actors for consumer goods at the Suzuya squat market in Pekanbaru, secondly what are the legal remedies for consumers who have been harmed by damaged and inappropriate goods provided by business actors at the Suzuya squat market in Pekanbaru. The type of legal research method that the researcher uses is an empirical legal research method in which the researcher collects data by going directly to the field to obtain material for writing this thesis. Judging from the nature of the research, this research is descriptive analysis, namely providing an overview and reviewing and analyzing in a complete, detailed and clear manner, and the method of drawing conclusions that the researcher uses is deductive, namely discussing problems in general towards specific matters. From the results of the thesis research, what the author finds is that: Firstly, the responsibility that business actors carry out is providing compensation or compensation in the form of returning goods, replacing or returning money belonging to consumers and exchanging the goods for other goods and according to the price of the goods returned, secondly Legal remedies that can be taken by consumers include asking for compensation from business actors at the Suzuya Pekanbaru squatting market.
