Abstract

Crime is a common social phenomenon in people's lives and this happens with various backgrounds. One form of crime that often occurs is theft, as happened in Kelapa Village RW 06, Sukamulia Village, Sail Pekanbaru District. This research was conducted using qualitative methods and a descriptive approach through the process of observation, interviews, documentation, so this research resulted in findings that there had been three cases of theft in the scope of the community, which were generally at night and the victims suffered material losses. Then after an analysis using situational prevention crime theory in the context of primary prevention, the efforts made by the community to prevent this theft are imposing control by carrying out patrols, mandatory reporting, and using CCTV, secondary prevention is carried out by involving prevention efforts between the community and the police, the tertiary prevention that is carried out is in the context of the repetition of the crime of theft.
