Abstract

A Criminal acts are not only committed by adults, but children can also do this. There are many kinds of criminal acts committed by children today, one of which is narcotics crime or illegal drug abuse. To be held accountable for their actions, children serve a sentence in accordance with the decision made in the correctional institution. In correctional institutions, children have the right to receive guidance, be it religious and moral guidance, and education. So that when he returns to society he will be better and not repeat his actions again. The formulation of the problem in this research includes how to carry out guidance for child prisoners in narcotics cases at the Class IIA Bengkalis Penitentiary and what are the inhibiting factors in the activities of coaching child narcotics prisoners in narcotics cases at the Class IIA Bengkalis Penitentiary. This type of research is empirical legal research. By surveying directly into the field to collect primary and secondary data obtained from respondents either through questionnaires or interviews to be used as data or information as material for writing this research. The results of the research show that the implementation of guidance for child convicts in narcotics cases at the Bengkalis Class II A Prison is carried out in the form of fulfilling the right to education and teaching as best as possible by the relevant parties in the prison with reference to Law Number 22 of 2022 concerning Corrections. Personality education includes religious awareness education, national, state and legal awareness education, intellectual ability education, physical and spiritual health education and arts education. Then independence education in the form of skills education includes sewing skills education, gardening skills education, culinary/cake making skills education, and painting skills. The inhibiting factor in the implementation of inmate development at the Bengkalis Class IIA Prison for child narcotics prisoners is that the educational and teaching facilities as well as several educational and training facilities are inadequate for the number of prisoners.
