Abstract

ANALYSIS OF THE ROLE OF LEADING SECTORS IN LABOR ABSORPTION IN SIAK DISTRICT, RIAU PROVINCE This study aims to find out which sectors will become the leading sectors and to carry out this research in Siak Regency and to find out the role of the existing sectors in Siak Regency and the number of elasticity of employment opportunities in Siak Regency. The data analysis used in this study is a quantitative method, namely the LQ (Location Quotient) method, in which this method dissects the GRDP of Siak Regency and the GRDP of Riau Province which gives LQ values to economic activities in Siak Regency and uses analysis of labor elasticity in knowing the role of leading sectors in absorbing labor in Siak Regency. and the results of this study are that there are seventeen business sector sectors that form GRDP in Siak Regency, sectors that have LQ> 1 there are several sectors including the following sectors of the manufacturing industry, mining and quarrying, corporate services, educational services, health services and activities social services, and service sectors. Of the several leading sectors in Siak Regency, the industrial sector is the sector that plays the most role in absorbing labor, with an elasticity rate of 3.86%.
