Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of socio-economic variables, namely income, occupation of origin, education level, age, and marital status on incoming migration to the City of Dumai. The location of this research is in the City of Dumai, with a total sample of 43 respondents, which was obtained through the accidental sampling method. The data collection of this research was carried out through dissemination. The analysis technique used in this study is binary logistic regression. Based on the results of the analysis it is known that the variables of income, occupation of origin, level of education, age, and marital status simultaneously have a significant effect on incoming migration to Dumai City. The variables of income, education level, and marital status have a positive and significant effect, while the variables of origin and age do not have a partially significant effect on incoming migration to Dumai City. The income variable has the most dominant influence on incoming migration to Dumai City.
