Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine how much students' motivation to play football in learning physical education at SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Dalam. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The population in this study was grade IX students of SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Dalam, totaling 143 students. The sampling technique is total sampling with a sample of 132 students. The motivation indicators in the questionnaire were divided into 9 indicators, namely: 1) needs, 2) willingness, 3) developing talent, 4) diligent, 5) encouragement from friends, 6) gifts/compliments, 7) family, 8) environment, 9) competition/ competition. The number of initial statements is designed for 46 statement items and after being tested for validity it becomes 30 statement items. The results of this study are the motivation of students to play football in physical education learning at SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Dalam with an average of 66% with a fairly good category.
