Abstract
LABORATORY STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF ADDITION OF PINEAPPLE LEAF FIBER CMC ADDITIVE ON COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH AND THICKENNING TIME IN DRILLING CEMENT IRFAN KHOIRUDDIN NPM 173210729 ABSTRACT Failure in cementing activities to cover formations and glue a series of pipes will lead to inefficient use of time and materials, so that the quality of the cement mix needs to be adjusted based on the characteristics of the rock formations that are the target of the cementing work. In order to maintain good cement quality, it is necessary to pay attention to the addition of certain additives to the cement suspension so as to minimize problems associated with decreasing the quality of well cement. There are several natural additives that have been used in previous studies, such as bagasse, coconut shells, cotton banana stems and other natural additives. In this study, the additives used by the researchers were natural ingredients, namely using pineapple leaf fibers to determine their effect on compressive strength, shear bond strength and Thickenning TIme. Pineapple leaves are used as strengthening and binding fibers, because pineapple fiber contains 69.5 – 71.5% cellulose of pineapple leaf fiber. In this study, researchers used 1%, 3% and 5% natural additives of pineapple leaf fiber for testing compressive strength and shear bond strength and 1%, 2%, 3% for testing Thickening Time on drilling cement. This research will be conducted at the Petroleum Engineering Drilling Laboratory at the Islamic University of Riau. The results of the research that has been done show that the time value of Thickening Time using pineapple leaf fiber CMC additives has a faster drying time, while using industrial CMC additives the drying time of cement is getting longer. For Compressive Strength testing using the CMC additive, pineapple leaf fiber has an optimal value at a concentration of 1% with a compressive strength of 6180.348 psi and the Compressive Strength value using an industrial CMC additive has an optimal value at a concentration of 3% with a compressive strength value of 3138.935 psi. For the Shear Bond Strength test using the CMC additive, pineapple leaf fiber has an optimal value at a concentration of 1% with a compressive strength value of 518.69 and in the shear bond strength test using an industrial CMC additive, it has an optimal value at a concentration of 1% with a compressive strength of 345.79 psi.Additives, CMC, Compressive strength, Pineapple leaves, shear bond strength, Thickenning Time
