Abstract

Children are a gift from God Almighty to every parent. In fact, the state also considers children as a generation that is very important for the development and progress of a country. So the state has also provided legal protection for children. Therefore, educating a child's character and personality is very important because it is this education that will determine the future of a family and a country. However, there are times when a child can put up resistance which leads to delinquent behavior when they enter adolescence. This form of delinquency can even lead to a criminal act, one of which is motorbike theft. In the Rambah Police Station itself, the number of motorbike thefts committed by children increases every year. So there is a need for countermeasures that must be carried out by the police, especially by the Rambah Police, in eradicating motorbike theft by children. The main problem in this research is what factors cause children to steal motorbikes in the jurisdiction of the Rambah Police, what is the modus operandi used by children in committing motorbike theft in the jurisdiction of the Rambah Police, and what are the countermeasures against children who steal motorbikes in Rambah Police jurisdiction. The research carried out is an empirical legal research method using research or field observations, namely by surveying directly into the field to collect primary data and secondary data obtained from respondents through interviews to be used as data or information as writing material in this research. Based on the research results, it can be seen that the factors behind children committing criminal acts of motorbike theft in the jurisdiction of the Rambah Police are economic problems, bad relationships, lack of parental supervision, and the child's low education. The modus operandi used by the child who stole the motorbike was with two people serving as supervisors and as executors by using a T key, injecting demonic fluid, or using a dummy key to break the lock and take the motorbike away. Therefore, the Rambah Police carried out three efforts to deal with the crime of theft, namely pre-emptive, preventive and repressive efforts.
