Abstract

Basic teaching skills are a skill that must be owned by a teacher that must be applied to the learning process. There are 8 basic teaching skills, namely: skills to open and close learning, skills to explain, skills to carry out variations, skills to provide reinforcement, skills to ask questions, skills to manage classes, skills to guide small group discussions and skills to teach small groups and individuals. The purpose of this study was to find out how the teacher's ability to apply the 8 teaching skills in the learning process in class IV SDN 115 Pekanbaru. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method where the data obtained will be translated into a sentence that behaves descriptively. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, interviews and documentation. Based on the data obtained, it can be seen that the general application of the basic teaching skills of Mrs. SW, class IV teachers, has been well implemented. But there are several indicators of these skills that have not been implemented properly. As in the skill of opening learning. Teachers rarely give pre-tests to measure knowledge and increase students' initial learning motivation. In the skills of holding variations, the teacher also has not carried out optimally. This is due to several constraints. Obstacles faced by teachers include the lack of facilities and infrastructure from schools, short time and lack of creativity from teachers.
