Abstract
Comments Column on World Teacher's Day posts on Nadiem Makarim's Instagram account This research was motivated by a survey conducted by DCI which was published by Kompas.com which stated that the politeness level of Indonesian netizens is the worst in Southeast Asia. Author wants to see further whether it is true that the politeness level of Indonesian netizens is that bad. The problem studied in this study is how politeness in the language of netizens relates to the maxims of wisdom, maxim of generosity, maxim of praise, maxim of modesty, maxim of agreement and maxim of sympathy in the comment column on Nadiem Makarim's Instagram account? The purpose of this research is to find out the language politeness of netizens in the comment column on Nadiem Makarim's Instagram account. The approach used is a qualitative approach. The research data is in the form of netizen comments containing politeness in language seen from the politeness maxims found in the comments column of Nadiem Makarim's Instagram account. The data source for this research is a post uploaded by Nadiem Makarim on October 5, 2021 World Teacher's Day. Data collection techniques used are documentation techniques, reading techniques and note-taking techniques. Data analysis techniques, namely coding, data classification, analyzing and looking for relationships, report drafts. The results of the study found that 120 data contained politeness maxims, 47 data included polite wisdom maxims and were not found to be impolite. 21 data included praise maxims which were further divided into 4 impolite utterances and 17 impolite utterances. polite, 12 data included in the polite maxim of sympathy and were not found to be impolite, 43 data included to the impolite maxim of agreement and not found to be polite. Meanwhile, the other two maxims are not found. The conclusion of the study, the maxims that were most commonly found were wisdom maxims because they relate to posts uploaded by Nadiem Makarim regarding World Teachers' Day which raised aspirations from netizens to voice their hearts and minds, especially to help honorary teachers. So that the post benefits more people.
