Abstract
The current decline in oil production is very worrying and causes an imbalance between supply and demand. The high demand in the country is not supported by the ability to produce oil from existing fields. As technology develops in the oil and gas world, one of the ways to increase the oil production is to use the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) method. Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS), is the most widely applied thermal Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) method worldwide. In this study, the authors will test the Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS) method by adding foam surfactant to the injection in the heavy oil field. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of foam surfactant when it is injected with the Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS) method in a heavy oil field and to compare the effectiveness of foam concentration, pressure, injection rate, temperature, and steam quality. In this study, the method used was by simulation using CMG 2018. The injection of foam surfactant was carried out simultaneously with steam for 14 days. After that, the second stage of the CSS method, which is called soaking, is carried out. This process lasts for 5 days. Then do the production on the well. The production process will continue until the production results decrease. If this happens, then this cycle will be repeated from the first stage, namely injection. The results show that by adding foam surfactant to the CSS method, our recovery factor can increase from 10.67 to 33.70 with the same parameter values. This proves that there is a very significant difference in the RF value before and after injecting the foaming surfactant in the CSS method.
