Abstract

Surfactants are active compounds that have an amphiphilic structure consisting of hydrophilic and lipophilic groups which can reduce the surface tension between two different phases, namely oil and water, so that they can be utilized in the EOR process. One of the natural ingredients that can be used to become a natural surfactant (biosurfactant) is sengon leaf. In sengon leaves there is a glycoside, namely saponins. The chemical structure of saponins is a glycoside composed of glycons and aglycones. The glycone part consists of sugar groups such as glucose, fructose, and other types of sugar. Therefore making saponins can function as surfactants. The process of making the extract is done by maceration extraction. Then carried out characteristic testing of the extract. The tests include Density testing, viscosity value testing, pH testing, and Compatibility Testing. This test was carried out in a concentration scenario (0.1%; 0.3%; 0.5%, 0.7%, and 1%) of 15,000 ppm brine with variations at room temperature and standard temperature of 60?C. Based on the characteristic tests that have been carried out, a density of 1.2 gr/cm3 was obtained, a viscosity of 1.52 cP and an acidic pH of 6.3. Based on the results of the characteristic test, the biosurfactant from saponin extract of sengon leaves fulfilled the initial screening of alternative surfactants. Meanwhile, in compatibility testing in several scenarios, the results show that all scenarios meet the compatible requirements. However the most compatible concentration at 0.1% Biosurfactant, Maceration, Sengon Leaf, Compatibility, Concentration
