Abstract
This research was conducted to determine the effect of self-potential on the interest in continuing higher education studies in class XII AKL students of the Riau Banking Vocational School in Pekanbaru. This type of research is in the form of a correlation with a quantitative approach. The population of this study were students of Riau Banking SMK class XII AKL 1,2 and 3, totaling 76 students. The technique of determining the sample is random sampling. In this study using a questionnaire (questionnaire). Data analysis techniques performed descriptive analysis, reliability, normality. Simple linear regression, hypothesis testing (t test) and coefficient of determination (R2). Based on the results of the research above, the correlation coefficient is positive, which means that there is an influence between variables X and Y. The correlation is significant because the tcount value is greater than ttable, namely 3,734 > 1,991 at a significant rate of 5%. Based on the results of the analysis, the coefficient of determination (R square) is 0.159. the contribution of variable X to variable Y is 0.159 X 100% = 15.9%. From the above results, it can be concluded that self-potential has a significant effect on the interest in entering higher education in students of XII AKL SMK Riau Banking. Therefore the research hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and (Ho) is rejected.
