Abstract

This research is aimed at getting a clear picture of the dominant teaching materials used in learning practices, as well as assessing their effectiveness and relevance in improving student understanding. This research used a survey method, with a population consisting of biology teachers and class VII students at SMP 4 Siak Hulu. The research sample was selected using a simple random sampling technique to determine the class of respondents. The research instruments were questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaire was designed to collect information regarding the type of teaching materials, frequency of use, and relevance to the curriculum. Interviews were conducted with teachers to gain deeper insight into the use of teaching materials. The results of the questionnaire show that the quality of education at the school is at a satisfactory level. However, there are things that need to be improved, for example student activity. Through thorough evaluation and necessary improvements, it is hoped that the quality of education can continue to improve.
