Abstract

This research aims to describe the values of character education in Gurindam Dua Belas Karya Raja Ali Haji, Penyengat Island, Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands Province. The theory used by researchers in character education is the theory from Agus Wibowo (2012:43) which explains that there are 18 character education values, namely as follows: (1) religious, (2) honest, (3) tolerance, (4) discipline , (5) hard work, (6) creative, (7) independent, (8) democracy, (9) curiosity, (10) spirit of nationalism, (11) love of the country, (12) respect for achievements, (13) friendly/communicative, (14) love of peace, (15) likes reading, (16) cares about the environment, (17) cares about social issues, (18) responsibility. The method used by researchers is qualitative research using descriptive methods, namely by collecting accurate data from sources regarding character education in Gurindam Dua Belas to improve research results and make it easier to determine problem formulation. The results of the research show that there are 10 (ten) character education values in Gurindam Twelve, namely : religius values, honesty values, discipline values, hard work values, democratic values, love of country values, respect for achievements, friendly/communicative values, love values, peace, value of responsibility.. The values of character education in Raja Ali Haji's Gurindam twelve are very relevant to current education, in accordance with the goals of National Education. So that the character values contained in the twelve Gurindam works by Raja Ali Haji can become a guideline in the world of education.
