Abstract

The problem studied in this research is the values contained in the burdah tradition in Kepenuhan District, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province. The theory used by researchers in values is UU Hamidy (2014:48) which explains that there are 4 values, namely as follows: (1) religious values, (2) customary values, (3) traditional values, (4) social values. The method used by researchers is qualitative research using descriptive methods, namely by collecting accurate data from sources regarding the values contained in the Burdah tradition to improve research results and make it easier to formulate problems. The results of this research are that there are four values contained in the burdah tradition, first, religious values, namely: Before the burdah tradition is played, players usually start by reading alfatihah with the aim of making all matters smoother when playing the burdah tradition. Second, customary values: this burdah tradition has unwritten rules, namely before starting to play this burdah tradition the players are advised to take ablution first, and the players must be men who have reached puberty. Third, traditional values: to this day, people still maintain the burdah tradition which has been passed down from generation to generation. Fourth, social value: seen when carrying out preparations for this tradition, all residents participate in mutual cooperation in implementing the burdah tradition.
