Abstract

This study aims to collect data and solve any problems raised in this paper regarding the aesthetic value of the Cek Esah dance dress at the Seri Melayu Art Studio, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. The Cek Esah dance is a dance created by creation that is based on the Malay zapin. Cek esah clothing is used to convey the meaning of a dance and add aesthetic value to the movement. The formulation of the problem in this study is: What is the aesthetic value of the Cek Esah dance dress in the Seri Melayu Art Studio, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province? Data collection techniques used are: observation, interviews, and documentation. In this study using qualitative research methods using a descriptive approach. According to Dharsono Sony Kartika (2007:89) "beauty is basically a number of certain basic qualities contained in something." The results obtained from this study are the clothes for the Cek Esah dance seen from the overall clothing of men and women. Unity found in head makeup, overall clothing, and equipment. Harmony seen in terms of color and head makeup motifs, overall clothing, and equipment. An even balance of visual weight can be seen in head makeup, overall clothing, and equipment. Equivalence seen from the alignment of the right and left in head makeup, overall clothing, and equipment. And the resistance that lies in head makeup, overall clothing, and equipment.
