Abstract
The effects of the engineering properties of high plasticity clay when blended with concrete brick burning ash are the focus of this paper. A series of laboratory experiment have been implemented on the varieties of samples that blended by 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% of concrete brick burning ash. Stabilized soil testing was consisted of consistency test, CBR test (un soaked), and Unconfined Compression Test, and curing time in 0, 3, 7, and 10 days. Result shows that the addition of concrete brick burning ash to the soil can improve the engineering properties of soil and little bit increasing in the density. Hence, increasing in the bearing capacity of stabilized soils about 16%. Curing time increases CBR’s and UCS’s values. Optimum concrete brick burning ash to yield the maximum bearing capacity was 10%. In this optimum value, stabilized soil tends to be stiffer and failed in the same failure strain of soil. Such was the case, concrete brick burning ash can be as an alternative additive to stabilize high plasticity soils.
