Abstract
This research aims to determine antibacterial activity of ethanolic extract from Jeringau to inhibiting the growth of Aeromonas hydrophila, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Vibrio alginolyticus and to determine the best extract concentration to inhibit these pathogenic bacteria. The objects used in this research were Jeringau rhizome, A. hydrophila, P. aeruginosa and V. alginolyticus , ethanol, methanol, NB, NA, paper discs and distilled water. The method used is an experimental method using the Kirby-Bauer disc method, used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 2 replications, that are: P1 extract concentration 20%, P2 extract concentration 30%, P3 extract concentration 40%, P4 extract concentration of 50% and P5 extract concentration of 60%. The results of this research indicate that the rhizome of Jeringau (Acarus calamus) positively contains Alkaloids, Phenolics, Terpenoids, Saponins and Flavonoids. Treatment P1-P5 (20% - 60% ) showed inhibition against the three pathogenic bacteria in strong category.
