Abstract
Marketing and Price Transmission Analysis of Pineapple in Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency, Under the Guidance of Mrs. Dr. Elinur, SP., M.Si Pineapple (Ananas comosus L.) is one of the horticultural crops that is in great demand by the people of Indonesia, especially in Riau Province. The purpose of the study was to analyze 1) the characteristics of farmers and pineapple traders. 2) institutions, channels, and functions of pineapple marketing. 3) cost, margin, farmer's share, profit and efficiency of pineapple marketing. 4) price transmission of pineapple at the farm level. This study used a survey method. Sampling was done by simple random sampling with a total sample size of 72 farmers and 10 census collectors. Data analysis used qualitative descriptive analysis, quantitative and multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the age of farmers is classified as productive, the level of education is low, experienced in pineapple farming, the average number of family members is 3 people. The age of collective traders is classified as productive, the level of education is low, experienced in trading, the average number of family members is 4 people. The marketing institutions involved are: farmers, intermediary traders, and consumers. There are 2 marketing channels, namely channel I (farmers - consumers) and channel II (farmers - intermediary traders - consumers). Marketing functions performed by farmers are sales, transportation, market information. Collecting traders: functions of purchasing, selling, transporting, standardizing and grading, risk-bearing, financing, and market information. Consumers: purchasing function. The total marketing cost of channel II is IDR156.15/kg. The total marketing margin of channel II amounted to IDR 363.52/kg. Total marketing profit in channel II amounted to Rp207.37/kg. Pineapple marketing is classified as efficient. Total farmer's share in channel II amounted to 86.04%. The price transmission elasticity at the farm level shows that it is significantly determined by the price at the intermediary level and the farmer price last month. The price elasticity at the intermediary level and last month's farm gate price are not responsive in the short term, but the price of pineapple at the farm gate last month is responsive in the long term.
