Abstract

This study aims to examine the superstitious structure of the Malay community in Tebing Tinggi Okura Village, Rumbai Timur District, Pekanbaru City regarding the categories of the human body and folk medicines. Superstition is a statement that contains things that have a supernatural meaning which aims to educate children's behavior in ancient times. Superstition includes part of folklore relating to a belief that is passed down from generation to generation, usually there is a sign or cause and it is expected that there will be a result. In this study, researchers used a qualitative approach that emphasized more on observation and the substance of meaning of the object of study studied. The research data is an expression of the superstitiousness of the Malay community in the category of the human body and folk medicines in the Tebing Tinggi Okura Village, Rumbai Timur District, Pekanbaru City. By using techniques in the form of observation, data collection was carried out using interview techniques which were recorded directly using fishing techniques and listening techniques. The results of this study, 25 superstitious expressions were found, the entire data in a two-part structure in the Tebing Tinggi Okura Village, Rumbai Timur District, Pekanbaru City.
