Abstract

student of the Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau, has carried out a research entitled "ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY TEST OF SENDUDUK LEAF EXTRACT (Melastoma malabathricum Linn) ON Aeromonas hydrophila, Pseudomonas aeruginosa AND Vibrio alginolyticus bacteria" under the guidance of Mr. Dr. Jarod Setiaji, S.Pi, M.Sc. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of Senduduk leaf extract (Melastoma malabathricum Linn) in inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Vibrio alginolyticus and to determine the best extract concentration to inhibit Aeromonas hydrophila, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Vibrio alginolyticus. The materials used in this study were Senduduk leaves, Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Vibrio alginolyticus, ethanol, methanol, NB, NA, disc paper and distilled water. The method used is an experimental method using the Kirby-Bauer disc method, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 2 repetitions, namely: 10% concentration, 20% concentration, 30% concentration, 40% concentration and 50% concentration . The results of this study indicated that Senduduk leaf extract positively contained saponins, flavonoids and tannins. The best concentration to inhibit bacterial growth in Senduduk leaf extract after the inhibition test was carried out was a concentration of 50% on Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria with an inhibition zone diameter of 17.5 mm and Pseudomonas aeruginosa with an inhibition zone diameter of 19.5 mm and Vibrio alginolyticus bacteria with a zone diameter resistance 17.5 mm. The inhibition power of Senduduk leaf extract against A. hydrophila, P. aeruginosa and V. alginolyticus bacteria was classified as strong.
