Abstract

Marriage readiness is needed before deciding to get married. The discussion about marriage readiness continues to be an interesting topic to study. Couples who decide to marry must have mature and stable emotions, because emotional maturity determines how individuals can handle conflicts that may arise in marriage. However, studies on emotional maturity and readiness for marriage are still few and very limited. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between emotional maturity and readiness to marry in early adulthood in Pekanbaru City. The data analysis method used in this study was a simple linear regression test involving 400 young adults who had never been married in Pekanbaru City. Based on the results of the analysis, it shows that emotional maturity has a positive and significant relationship to readiness for marriage in early adulthood in Pekanbaru City with an influence contribution of 2.6% and the rest is influenced by other factors. In this case it can be concluded that there is a relationship between emotional maturity and readiness to marry in early adulthood in Pekanbaru City, but the contribution of emotional maturity to marriage readiness is very small.
