Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of trichocompost and planting time on the growth and production of shallots and purple eggplants by intercropping. This research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau. The research was carried out for 5 months from August to December 2021. The design used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 2 factorials. The first factor was the dose of Trichocompost consisting of 4 levels, namely 0, 500, 1000, 1500 g/plot and the second factor was Planting Time which consisted of 3 levels, namely shallots were planted 14 days before purple eggplant, shallots were planted together with purple eggplant, and shallots were planted 14 days after purple eggplant. The data were analyzed statistically and continued with the honest significant difference test (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction of trichocompost and planting time did not significantly affect all parameters of the shallot and eggplant plants. The main effect of Trichocompost on shallot plants significantly affected the parameters of plant height, wet tuber weight, dry tuber weight and tuber shrinkage with the best dose of 1500 g/plot (W2). For eggplant plants, it only had a significant effect on the parameter of fruit weight per eggplant plant, the best dose was 1500 g/plot (W3). The main effect of planting time on shallots significantly affected the parameters of plant height, fresh tuber weight, dry tuber weight and tuber shrinkage. Whereas in eggplant, the treatment of planting time did not significantly affect all parameters.
