Abstract

This study aims to determine the interaction and main effect of MOL and NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer on the growth and production of sweet corn plants. The research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau, Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution No. 113, Air Cold Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City. This research was carried out for 3 months, from November 2021 to January 2022. The experimental design used was a 4 x 4 Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consisted of 2 factors, the first factor was MOL concentration (M) with 4 treatment levels: 0, 50, 100 and 150 cc per liter of water. The second factor was the dose of NPK 16:16:16 (N) with 4 treatment levels: 0, 5, 10 and 15 g per plant so that there were 16 treatment combinations. Parameters observed were plant height, flowering age, number of leaves, plant production per plot, plant production per plant, cob length, number of rows of seeds per cob, and sugar content. The results of the study concluded that the interaction effect of MOL and NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer was significant on flowering time, number of leaves, production per plot and production per plant. The best treatment combination was found at a MOL concentration of 150 cc/l of water and a dose of 15 g/plant of NPK 16:16:16. The main effect of MOL has a significant effect on all parameters of the sweet corn plant observations. The best treatment was found at a concentration of 150 cc/l water. The main effect of NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer has a significant effect on all observation parameters. The best treatment dose of NPK fertilizer 16:16:16 15 g/plant.
