Abstract

Pekanbaru is the capital and largest city in Riau province which has a variety of transportation. There are many reasons respondents choose the mode of transportation that will be used to reach their destination. This is the root of transportation problems in Pekanbaru City, especially in Pekanbaru City Center where online transportation modes tend to be more desirable, in terms of service quality, accessibility, affordability and time. The impact is that passengers who use public transportation modes switch to online transportation modes. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of travellers in choosing modes, the impact of the existence of online transportation on public transportation, and the right solution for choosing the mode of transportation in the center of Pekanbaru City. This study uses quantitative methods, then processed by statistical analysis. The survey was conducted by distributing questionnaires to more than 150 respondents containing the characteristics of travellers, efficient use of transportation, and preferred transportation. The survey results were collected and then descriptive statistical analysis was carried out. Data processing and analysis were carried out to see the suitability of the model by carrying out statistical tests. The factors that statistically significantly affect the fixed variables are the variables of gender, age, occupation, purpose of travel, income, vehicle ownership, transportation used. Based on the results obtained in this study, online transportation is in great demand by the people of the city of Pekanbaru. The impact that occurs on public transportation is the low income of public transport drivers due to the current online transportation. There is also a choice solution for the community, if they are students or high school students, the transportation that is suitable for use is online transportation, if they are workers, the transportation that is suitable for them is online transportation.
