Abstract

Many roads in Indonesia are damaged and cracked due to changes in shape caused by excessive load pressure from vehicle loads exceeding road capacity. Therefore, it is necessary to make changes to overcome the shortage of asphalt mixture using natural rubber in the form of SIR20 Crumb Rubber to fill the shortage of asphalt mixture. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding SIR20 Crumb Rubber as an asphalt additive in the AC-BC mixture. This research was conducted using the 2018 Bina Marga Specifications using the Marshall Test method. By using the percentage of SIR20 Crumb Rubber mixture as an aspak additive with variations of 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%, and 12.5%. Based on the results of research on the values of Flow, VMA, VIM variations of 7.5%, 10% and 12.5% do not meet the specification requirements. The Stability value increased at 0% to 5% variation from 1209.60-1309.44 Kg, at 7.5% to 12.5% variation there was a decrease from 1196.16-938.88 Kg. The Flow value increased at a variation of 0% to 2.5% from 2.73-2.26 mm, at a variation of 5% to 12.5% there was a decrease from 2.03-1.65 mm. MQ, VMA, and VIM values increased with variations of 0% to 5% from MQ values 442.54-646.11 Kg/mm, VMA 15.39-15.51%, VIM 3.62-3.75%, whereas in the 7.5% to 12.5% variation there was a decrease from the MQ value of 625.17-567.87 Kg/mm, VMA 13.88-13.47%, VIM 1.89-1.42%. The VFA value increased from 0% to 12.5% from 76.51 to 89.45%. the use of SIR20 Crumb Rubber can only be used with a maximum of 5% mixture. Because the results of each Marshall characteristic value meet the 2018 General Highways Specifications standards. If the use of SIR20 Crumb Rubber exceeds a 5% mixture percentage, it cannot be used as a substitute for asphalt.
