Abstract

Dr RM Pratomo Regional General Hospital produces waste products in the form of waste, one of which is liquid waste. The potential for liquid waste can pollute the environment and public health, so it needs to be processed first through a Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL). The latest data from the liquid waste outlet test results do not meet the quality standards based on the Minister of Environment Regulation No. 5 of 2014 concerning Quality Standards for Hospital Activity Wastewater, so that the causes of not meeting these quality standards must be known. The research aims to determine the characteristics of the treated wastewater, evaluate the performance of WWTP through an analysis of the efficiency of reducing pollutant loads in WWTP and analysis of the level of performance effectiveness of WWTP dimensions in treating liquid waste. The research method used is descriptive method by collecting secondary data in the form of liquid waste disposal permits, number of beds, number of employees, number of visits, reports on the results of laboratory tests of liquid waste, and WWTP working drawings. Primary data was obtained through interviews and field observations with the aim of getting an overview of the conditions in the WWTP. The results showed that the characteristics of the liquid waste did not meet the quality standards of Permen LH No. 5 of 2014, namely BOD of 122.3 mg/l and COD of 174.5 mg/l. WWTP performance in reducing the load of liquid waste pollution is categorized as less efficient with an average reduction percentage of 24.05%. The effectiveness dimension of WWTP is categorized as Ineffective in treating liquid waste based on its residence time criteria.
