Abstract
Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution km11, Bukit Raya sub-district, is a road that connects access from Jalan Pasir Putih and Jalan Sudirman. However, during the rainy season, this area often experiences flooding due to the drainage channel not being able to accommodate the flood discharge and the topography of the area which is concave. To overcome the problem of flooding, it is necessary to review the drainage capacity. The methods used in the research process include the Log-Person Type III method for calculating design rainfall, the mononobe formula for calculating Rainfall Intensity, the Rational Method for calculating Surface Flow Discharge and the Manning formula for calculating Channel Capacity. From the analysis it was found that to accommodate surface runoff that occurs due to rain outside the area with a flow rate (Qflow) of 0.026 m3/second and obtained a channel capacity (Qchannel) of 1.201 m3/sec with dimensions L=0.30m, T=0, 40m, and the cathment area is 310,985 m2. It can be concluded that the drainage channel is still able to accommodate the planned flood discharge. For efforts to deal with flooding, namely with a strategy of rehabilitation and normalization of drainage where the planning for the construction of a drainage network at the research location is carried out according to the existing conditions where the community encourages the government to improve the drainage system plan to better deal with the possibility of flooding and community participation to develop community empowerment programs in controlling against environment especially for environmental drainage.Drainage Channels, Cathment Areas, Rational Methods
