Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine whether there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and learning motivation for biology class XI science students in public high school 1 Tapung Hilir Academic Year 2021/2022. This research is correlational research and data collection using questionnaires, observations, documentation and interviews. The sample in this study were 103 students. The data analysis of this research uses the Person Product Moment correlation analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that the recapitulation of all sub-indicators of emotional intelligence for high academic students is 86.95% which is in the very good category, for medium academic students is 80.48% who is in the very good category, for low academic students it is 75, 46% are in the good category, while the recapitulation of all sub-indicators of learning motivation for high school students is 88.53% which is in the very good category, for students with moderate abilities is 84.61% who is in the very good category, for students with moderate abilities low academic level of 69.17% which is in the good category. The results of calculating high academic students' emotional intelligence (X1), learning motivation (X2) and learning outcomes (Y) have a strong relationship (0.689). In moderate academic ability, emotional intelligence (X1), learning motivation (X2) with learning outcomes (Y) there is a moderate relationship (0.584). At low academic ability, emotional intelligence (X1), learning motivation (X2) with learning outcomes (Y) there is a low relationship (0.279). The results of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and learning motivation with the learning outcomes of students in class XI IPA at SMA Negeri 1 Tapung Hilir 2021/2022 Academic Year.
