Abstract

THE EFFORTS OF ISLAMIC STUDIES TEACHERS IN FORMING STUDENTS’ MORALS AT MTsN 05 PASAMAN BARAT M. IQBAL 192410324 The effort of Islamic Studies teachers is a conscious and planned effort in preparing students to know, own, live, believe, have piety and noble character in practicing Islamic teachings from the main sources of the holy Al-Qur'an and Al- Hadith. Therefore, the teachers should always strive to develop the potentials of students so that the students know their potentials especially in forming students’ morals, so that they can distinguish between the good and the bad things. The study was conducted at MTsN 05 Pasaman Barat. This is a qualitative study. The results of the study show that there are still some students at MTsN 05 Pasaman Barat who eat and drink while walking, speak harsh words, litter, even though the teachers have taught about good morals. The efforts made by the teachers in forming students’ morals include: (1) Providing examples or role models such as wearing Muslim clothing, speaking good words, often practicing saying sorry before speaking and ending with the word thank you. (2) Giving advice, always giving advice to students during class hours or even after leaving, if there is a violation of bad morals, they immediately advise the students in a good and firm way. (3) Upholding discipline, in a way that every student who violates morals will be given a penalty or immediately reprimanded and taken to a special room, so that the students immediately get direction and enlightenment. (4) Familiarizing, the good morals are formed consistently by the Islamic Studies teachers in getting used to good behavior for students. (5) Providing motivation, always providing motivation and encouragement to students, including giving rewards to students who have good morals, then reading the hadiths, stories of the prophets or stories about good morals.
