Abstract

PLTS is an environmentally friendly technology because it produces less pollution than fossil-fueled electricity. Indonesia has a tropical climate whose amount of sunlight is very high, so sunlight can be an alternative source of electrical energy using solar panels, but most PLTS do not have a sunlight tracking system and are not integrated with the internet, causing less optimal sunlight absorption. Therefore, in this study, a device has been designed that can track or follow the direction of solar movement to produce alternative electrical energy and connect to the internet. This designed solar tracking system uses a servo motor as a solar panel drive so that its position is always perpendicular to the direction of sunlight. The ESP32 microcontroller is used as the main component in this study, as well as the battery used in this study, a 12V 7A battery, and a solar charger controller as a power control that comes from the solar panel to the battery to keep it in the same direction. The research methodology used for this final project consists of three stages. The first stage is to conduct a literature review by analyzing lecture books, libraries, and internet media related to this research. The second step is to conduct laboratory studies where various components used in this design are tested. The final stage is the discussion approach, in which the question about the previous project was asked of colleagues and discussed with the supervisor. Based on the results of the testing carried out on the tools that have been designed, the tool can move following the movement of the sun and can absorb more optimal sunlight energy compared to a permanent solar panel with a percentage of 38,03542% more optimal.
