Abstract

ISLAMIC EDUCATION TEACHER’S EFFORT IN BUILDING STUDENTS’ RELIGIOUS CHARACTER AT SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 2 BUNGARAYA SIAK REGENCY SULIS INDIRA 182410293 Some of students at senior high school 2 Bungaraya Siak Regency were lack of in building religious character and different with others. Some of students were late when religious event happened. Some of them were chatting and joking with others when teaching and learning process. Some of them were truant when religious event happened, and they were lack of knowledge and understanding in reciting Al-Qur’an. The prupose in this research examined to know Islamic education teacher’s effort in building students’ religious character at senior high school 2 Bungaraya Siak Regency by exploring with understanding, habituation, and exampling method. This research was qualitative research type and the data were got by structured interview technique, and documentation. Data analysis technique used descriptive qualitative. Research finding showed that understanding method used by Islamic education teacher at senior high school 2 Bungaraya explained that teacher gave example or advice suitable with the lesson material, explained the material by using lecture method, applying habituation, and doing supervision and giving punishment. Habituation method that was applied by Islamic education teacher such as: students must do 3S (Smile, Salam, and Salim), routinely to read asmaul husna on Friday, recite daily pray when starting and finishing learning activity, and doing cleaning Friday. Then, exemplary was applied by Islamic education teacher by creating himself to be a model for students to do good act suitable with Islamic rules.Character, Islamic, Teacher’s Effort
