Abstract

THE NEGATIVE INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON STUDENTS’ MORALS AT MADRASAH TSANAWIYAH DARUL MUJAHIDIN KUALA MAHATO, TAMBUSAI UTARA DISTRICT, ROKAN HULU REGENCY ELSAINI FATMA 182410015 Social media is one of the many results of today's technological sophistication, the problems caused by social media cannot be denied because of the very rapid development of social media. This study is motivated by the low morals of students that causes students to neglect their responsibilities, always say harsh words, like to follow trends on social media, and look like someone they idolize. Therefore, this study is intended to see whether there is a negative influence of social media on students’ morals at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Darul Mujahidin Kuala Mahato. This is a quantitative study with a correlational approach conducted at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Darul Mujahidin Kuala Mahato for 4 months, from July to October 2022. The results of the study show that there is a negative influence of social media on students’ morals at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Darul Mujahidin Kuala Mahato with a significance of 0.00 <0.05. The magnitude of the influence can be seen from the summary table with an R-Squared value of 0.125 or 12.5% with very low criteria. So, it can be concluded that the result of the study is that there is a negative influence of social media on students’ morals at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Darul Mujahidin Kuala Mahato.
