Abstract

Corruption is already rampant and has become a habit in this country, this is of course very detrimental to society because they want to reap personal benefits. Various attempts have been made with it namely Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts which replaced Law Number 3 of 1971 which was amended to Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication Corruption Crime. At the present time the imposition of punishment for criminal corruption has grown rapidly to the point where political rights are revoked. In this study there is a problem in the form of a juridical analysis of additional punishment in the revocation of political rights for convicts of corruption cases and also the considerations of the panel of judges who decide to revoke political rights for convicts of corruption cases. This research uses normative legal methods and is descriptive in nature. Sourced from primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials. Writing conclusions based on the deductive method that is interesting things that are general to be specific. The author can provide arguments in the revocation of political rights which are given as additional punishment only to provide a deterrent effect for convicted corruption cases, this of course provides a warning for someone who wants to commit corruption. Because corrupt practices in Riau Province to the weak sentencing for public officials who commit corruption.
