Abstract
Confidence is a feeling of confidence that he can succeed and has a lot of effort and will, while being aware and looking for advantages over his abilities or potential without listening to slanted comments that can weaken him so that later he can formulate a really mature plan. This study aims to determine the relationship between body shaming and self-confidence in students at Riau Islamic University. The subjects in this study were 202 UIR students. This research is a correlational quantitative study using the self-confidence scale from Masrifah (2020) and the body shaming scale from Dela (2022). The sample technique used in this study is simple random sampling. While the statistical analysis used is pearson product moment. The results of the analysis tests that have been carried out show that the correlation coefficient score between body shaming and self-confidence is -207 with a significance of 0.003. This indicates that there is a negative correlation between body shaming and self-confidence. The results of the analysis of this study indicate that the significance value = 0.003 is smaller than the significance table (p <0.05), which means that the research hypothesis is accepted.
