Abstract

In the digital era, students are currently very much abreast of technological developments, especially the development of smartphones. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-control and nomophobia in college students. The research subjects in this study were 400 students at Riau Islamic University consisting of the faculties of Law, Psychology, FKIP (Biology and Sendratasik Study Program), Agriculture (Agribusiness). The sampling technique uses Probability Sampling with the Cluster Sampling type. The data collection method uses a self-control scale compiled by Sitanggang, K (2021) with a total of 24 items and a nomophobia scale compiled by Rizal, I (2021) with a total of 20 items. The analysis method uses spearmen's Rho. The results of the analysis show that the correlation coefficient r is = -0.464 with a p value of 0.000. It can be concluded that there is a significant negative relationship between self-control and nomophobia in students. low self-control, the higher nomophobia experienced.
