Abstract
The availability of appropriate and affective reading teaching materials is still difficult to find, this is based on an initial survey that has been conducted in several libraries located at Riau University, Riau Islamic University, Sultan Syrif Kasim State Islamic University, and Lancang Kuning University, therefore it is necessary to provide affective teaching materials to reflect reading teaching materials. The problem in this study is how the effectiveness of android-based reading teaching materials. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of android- based reading teaching materials. The research method used was the experimental method, this research used a quantitative approach, with descriptive methods. The data collection technique is by using a test, the test used to collect data is by using a test consisting of pretest and posttest in the experimental class and control class. The data analysis technique uses a t-test which has previously tested the requirements of the analysis. The results of this study showed that in the experimental class the average pretest score was 58,40 and in the control class the average pretest score was 50,60, The experimental class obtained an average posttest score of 80.20 and the control class obtained an average posttest score of 72,40. The results of testing the second hypothesis, the posttest results of the experimental class and control class obtained t count of 3,485 and a significance value of 0,02. The significance value states that it is smaller than 0,05, so it can be stated that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is a significant difference in the posttest results of the experimental and control classes. So, it can be concluded that the android-based reading teaching materials can be said to be affective.
