Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between self-control and consumptive behavior of online shopping through the shopee application in law faculty students at the Islamic University of Riau. Consumptive behavior is often associated with buying goods excessively without thinking about their use, this behavior is influenced by lust that is solely to satisfy pleasure and is more concerned with wants than needs. The subjects of this study were 242 law students class of 2020 at Riau Islamic University. The sampling technique in this study was random sampling. The data collection instrument in this study used a consumptive behavior scale and a self-control scale. Data analysis using Product Moment correlation analysis. Based on the results of the correlation analysis test, a coefficient value of -0.129 was obtained and a Sig (2-tailed) value or p = 0.046 (p <0.05). This means that the hypothesis is accepted because there is a significant negative correlation between the consumptive behavior variable and the selfcontrol variable
